Exhibition "The Game of Camouflage"
May 17 at 17:00 in the Experimental Studio — opening of the exhibition “The Game of Camouflage” by Asia Yakovlieva.
“The Game of Camouflage” is an attempt to process pain, cruelty, and violence through decoration, humor, and irony. The exhibition reflects on life under constant threat and the ways we cope with personal vulnerability. The artist explores a world where camouflage and ornamentation become forms of adaptation to a traumatic reality. Aestheticization emerges as a way to comprehend, endure, and transform trauma into a mode of resistance.
The exhibition features drawings, sculptures made of clay and beads, as well as textile works. The artist experiments with different media, exploring how vulnerability and absurdity can be expressed.
Free entry. The exhibition runs through June 7.
Asya Yakovlieva is an artist working with graphics, sculpture, beads, and textiles. In 2016, she relocated to Dnipro from Russian-occupied Luhansk. In her practice, she creates a personal system of symbols, where the body and weaponry appear as decorative, ironically reinterpreted forms. Her work balances between sensitivity and aggression, generating tension between form and meaning.
Experimental Studio is a space on the 2nd floor of DCCC dedicated to experimental practices and collaborations with emerging artists.
