Exhibition "Third Revision. Not Tomorrow Not Yesterday. Not End Not Beginning"
On April 16 at 18:30, the Dnipro Center for Contemporary Culture will host the opening of an exhibition by artist and curator Vitalii Matukhno, titled "Third Revision. Not Tomorrow Not Yesterday. Not End Not Beginning."
This is a story that can be measured by time and physical distance to Lysychansk, Matukhno's hometown. Two days and 8 hours, approximately 401,472 steps without stopping. 1,485 days of absence, during which time does not halt. This distance can be shortened, but the route remains theoretical. The final destination remains beyond reach.
At the core of the exhibition are Matukhno’s photographs from 2019–2022, taken in Lysychansk. The films shot by the artist have their own history, which began long "before" and has not yet ended. With time and distance, the content of the negatives mutates and multiplies.
"Distance allows personal memory to be transferred into the plane of artistic expression. My memories are voluntarily exhibited as an object for contemplation and discussion; therefore, I assume the role of the narrator — a role I cannot delegate," says Vitalii Matukhno.
This exhibition is the third attempt to organize a part of a personal collection of memory, a fixation of reflections and revisions, distance and time.
Free admission. DCCC exhibition space, 2nd floor. The exhibition is open until May 16.
Vitalii Matukhno is an artist, curator, activist, musician, and enthusiast from Lysychansk. In his practice, he explores the identity and cultural context of his hometown and region. He aims to develop, document, and represent the local and grassroots cultures of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. He works with themes of (post)industrial landscape and the preservation of "vanishing memory." He is the founder and curator of the nomadic self-organized institution "Gareleya Neotodresh."
In Dnipro, the exhibition "Not Tomorrow Not Yesterday. Not End Not Beginning" is being showcased for the second time. The previous iteration took place as part of the Construction Festival in 2025 in the space of the Verigo Mansion, also known as the "house with frogs."
