Mariana Sadovska's performance

Construction is hosting an off-festival event in Dnipro.

On June 2 at 6:00 PM, join us at DCCC for a performance by singer and composer Mariana Sadovska. Although Mariana has been living in Cologne for many years, she frequently returns to Ukraine for ethnographic research and creative work.

For her performance in Dnipro, Sadovska will blend two programs: "The Night Is Just Beginning" and "Learning Light."

"The Night Is Just Beginning" was created in response to the Russian aggression in 2014. In this program, the singer incorporates songs recorded during an expedition through the Pryazovia and Donetsk regions. The performance merges vocals, traditional ceremonial and experimental music, field recordings, and poetry by Serhiy Zhadan and Lyubov Yakymchuk.

The new program, "Learning Light," aims to depict a world in crisis, where humanity is crushed under the wheels of time. It is based on Ukrainian songs that navigate between tumultuous and tender sounds.
