New German Cinema
From November 17 to 20, as part of the 31st "New German Cinema" festival, we will screen the most significant German films of 2025.
November 17, 6:30 PM
"Cologne '75" (Köln 75) (Ido Fluk, 112 min)
Eighteen-year-old Vera Brandes attempts to find her place in the music world of the 70s. She is still attending school but, outside of her studies, manages to bring global stars to Germany and organize concerts. When she takes on the task of organizing a performance by jazz legend Keith Jarrett, everything goes wrong. The protagonist must save the concert, which later becomes historic and its recording one of the best-selling of all time.

"The Sound of Falling" (In die Sonne schauen) (Mascha Schilinski, 119 min)
One of the most notable German films of the year: it received the Jury Prize at Cannes and was Germany's submission for the Academy Award. The plot unfolds on a German farm around four women from different eras. They gradually uncover dark family secrets that intertwine their fates across centuries of pain and silence.

"Reflections No. 3" (Miroirs No. 3) (Christian Petzold, 86 min)
A drama by the acclaimed German director Christian Petzold, which premiered at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight. The film tells the story of a woman who, after surviving a car crash, finds herself with a strange family that unexpectedly surrounds her with love. However, it later turns out that this family has something to hide.

"What Marielle Knows" (Was Marielle weiß) (Frederic Hambalek, 86 min)
The film revolves around a teenage girl who receives a slap at school. This gives her the ability to see and hear everything her parents do. When the couple's most shameful secrets become public, an absurd game of manipulation begins as the parents try to maintain a facade for the daughter who knows everything about them.
Language: Original languages with Ukrainian subtitles.

The festival is organized by the Goethe-Institut in Ukraine in partnership with Arthouse Traffic, with the support of the general partner German Films and the official partner ProCredit Bank.
The DCCC Cinema is a space for independent cinema in Dnipro, a platform for discussing contemporary cinematography, documentary filmmaking, and audiovisual art. It focuses on screening auteur and experimental films.
