Screening of the film "Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman"

"Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman" is the first animated adaptation of short stories by Japanese writer Haruki Murakami. We’ll be screening it at the cinema on April 24 at 6:30 PM.

The film is based on six of Murakami’s works and unfolds as an anthology that critics describe as “elegantly animated dreams filled with poetic imagery.”

Set in Tokyo in 2011, just days after the city is struck by an earthquake and tsunami, a woman leaves her home after spending five days watching non-stop news coverage. Her helpless husband Komura takes time off work and travels north to deliver a mysterious package to two women — unaware of what it contains. Meanwhile, his colleague, a debt collector and eccentric recluse, finds a two-meter-tall frog in his home who asks him to help save Tokyo from an impending earthquake.

Free entry with registration. The film is provided by the project “Kinoklub. The All-Ukrainian Network.”
