Screening of the film "Ivan and Martha"

"Ivan and Marta" by Serhiy Bukovskyi — May 15 at 18:30 at the DCCC Cinema.

Writer and literary scholar Ivan Dziuba was the first to publicly accuse the Communist regime of persecuting and arresting Ukrainian intellectuals.

He was the initiator of the famous protest during the premiere of Serhiy Parajanov’s Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, alongside Vasyl Stus and Viacheslav Chornovol, and the author of the landmark book Internationalism or Russification?—facts that inevitably drew the close attention of the KGB.

Through all the anxieties and repressions related to his dissident activities, his wife Marta stood by his side. They spent 62 years together.

Ivan and Marta is a tender story of their relationship and Ivan’s active civic stance, told by his wife—his unwavering support and the love of his life.
