Screening of the film "War Songs"

On November 1st at 6:30 PM, the DCCC Cinema will screen "War Songs" by Sashko Protyah.

The screening will take place as part of the parallel program of the "Everything for Everybody" exhibition.

"War Songs" is a documentary musical film that tells the story of war and pacifism through songs and melodies recorded in Mariupol from the late 20th century until early 2022, when the city was destroyed and captured by Russia.

The screening will be followed by a discussion of the film with Sashko Protyah. Please note that the film contains sensitive and violent scenes related to Russian aggression.

Sashko Protyah is a film director and activist from Mariupol and the co-founder of Freefilmers, a collective of artists and filmmakers. In his films, he works with topics of memory, otherness, and alienation. His films have been screened at various events and venues, including Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, Hungry Eyes festival, EVA International, and Gwangju Biennale.

Admission is free, with mandatory registration.

The public program for the "Everything for Everybody" exhibition is being held as part of the HeritEDGE: Digital Archiving and Research project, with the support of the University of St. Andrews.

The DCCC Cinema is a space for independent cinema in Dnipro, a platform for discussing contemporary cinematography, documentary filmmaking, and audiovisual art. It focuses on screening auteur and experimental films.
