Screening of the movie "Akira"

"Akira" is a cult Japanese anime widely considered one of the ultimate cyberpunk classics. We are screening it on July 23 at 18:30 at the DCCC cinema.

The film's events kick off with a massive explosion in the center of Tokyo, triggering World War III. Over thirty years after the tragedy, a new capital rises from the ruins—the metropolis of Neo-Tokyo, whose atmosphere closely echoes the futuristic Los Angeles of Blade Runner.

Despite the technological breakthrough, life for Neo-Tokyo's residents is far from peaceful. The city is plagued by crime, terror, government corruption, and social inequality. Biker gangs form their own subculture, regularly clashing with law enforcement, who brutally suppress any signs of rebellion. Eventually, they will witness an even darker story hidden by the government—concerning secret experiments on children with telekinetic abilities.
