The performance "This Order Goes Wrong" by Lora Kmieliauskaitė
On May 12 at 18:00, DCCC will host the performance "This Order Goes Wrong" by Lithuanian artist and violinist Lora Kmieliauskaitė.
The performance takes anxiety as an observable phenomenon, transforming it into a foundation for experiments with music and digital technologies. How do the involuntary body movements that often accompany panic and anxiety affect the instrument and its live sound? What happens to the audio when a performer experiences stage anxiety and allows that sensation to grow and take over the body?
To allow the audience to observe these experiments, the performance combines live and electronic music, visual arts, and sensors attached to Lora Kmieliauskaitė’s body. This approach is rooted in the personal experiences of the authors, who have faced anxiety disorders and seek to explore this state by shifting it from the realm of individual experience into a collective performative act.
"This Order Goes Wrong" is a meditation on anxiety, demonstrating that what one person experiences in solitude is simultaneously an interpersonal and universal phenomenon—and perhaps one that can be controlled and overcome.
