Kultura Medialna has launched an open call for a grant program to research Jewish heritage
Open call for artists, researchers, and projects exploring Ukraine’s Jewish heritage.
"Archive and Art: Jewish Heritage Research Grants" is a grant program designed to reflect upon Ukrainian Jewish heritage through contemporary artistic practices.
For centuries, Jewish communities have been an integral part of Ukraine's cultural and intellectual life. However, a significant portion of the archives remains little known outside academic or professional circles. We invite you to explore local histories connected with Jewish communities through cultural lenses. These can be projects that research archival materials, as well as works created on the basis of contemporary events, phenomena, or conversations.
What can be submitted?
Projects in the field of visual arts, media projects, publications (print and digital editions, fiction and documentary texts), performances, public events, sound/music works, projects working with family/public archives or oral history, community engagement, etc., that deal with the topic of Ukraine’s Jewish heritage.
However, we are not limited to these formats — you can submit other works that conceptualize the theme of Jewish heritage through culture and art.
Who can apply?
Ukrainian artists, musicians, writers, media professionals, art collectives, cultural practitioners, researchers, and other specialists who are working or planning to work with the theme of Jewish heritage in Ukraine.
What will you receive?
A grant ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 to implement your project.
Grants are provided for both individual and collective projects. To apply and receive the grant, the applicant or one of the collective members must have an active Sole Proprietorship status (ФОП). Project implementation must take place within Ukraine.
Application deadline: July 20. Results will be announced on August 4 via the email address specified in the application.
